Millions of cubic, meters of concrete are produced and placed every year in various water resource development struc-tures like dams, tunnels, power houses etc. Quality is the hall mark of any good technical work and we owe it to our pro-fession to produce and accept only good quality concrete. Con-crete being heterogenous, has earned the reputation of being the least predictable of all construction materials, Concrete is produced by the interaction of so many variable ingredients and the process involves various stages of manufacturing and .testing procedures, There is thus a greater need to be aggre-: ssively aware of - especially in works of larger magnitude -factors causing variations in quality of concrete and to act in time so as to ensure minimising influence of such factors so that concrete of required quality, uniformity will be pur-posefully and consistently produced at a minimum cost...en_US
