Abstract: The objective of the thesis is to examine the applicabi-lity of multivariate technique of multisite streamflow synthe-sis via principal component analysis for the specific case of river Narmada, To generate synthetic events for more than one site, the cross correlation between the historic events at different sites must be considered, whereas under certain'condi- tions the use of key stations for extending or generating the records implies a biased serial correlation coefficient ( of lag one).
