Scheduling of irrigation water, a technological problem of deciding frequency of irrigation water application and the amount of water must be solved within a scientific framework. Action research on the farmers field in this area may be di-sastrous and may lead to chaos. The basic requirement is the understanding of the soil-water-plant-Environment relation-ships. The continuing interest in water relations between soil and plant has stimulated many studies on the factors that control the water balance of the soil. Especially the pro-cesses that govern water storage and movement in the soil below and above the water table , the evapotranspiration from green surfaces, the status of the water in the plant and the opening condition of the stomata have been studied extensively and with considerable success..en_US
