The dissertation presents results of Water Balance study of Dasht-e-Baktiia area, situated in south-western part of Afghanistan. The study has been conducted for two years starting from June 1977. Various components•of ground water equation has been evaluated. It has been found that average recharge due to rainfall works out about 25% of annual precipitation. Ground water potential of the area for average annual precipitation of 91.6 mm works out to 28.25 Mm30 Estimated draft during the rainy season Ist Novern-.- ber,to 31st March is about 12.41 Mm3 and from Ist April to 31st October is 7.27 Mm3, The losses from ground water structures is about. 4.83 Mm3 and annual draft works out to 24.5 Mm3o Draft from the potential tube well's is estimated 2.4 Mm3 and the total draft works out to 26.90 Mm3.en_US
