Title: UNDER FREQUENCY LOAD SHEDDING IN POWER SYSTEMS (CASE STUDY -- ORISSA SYSTEM)
Authors: Mohanty, Bijoy Kumar
Keywords: WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT;FREQUENCY LOAD SHEDDING;POWER SYSTEM;ORISSA SYSTEM
Issue Date: 1981
Abstract: In recent years, due to insufficient generation and increasing deiands in certain power systems in India as well as abroad, the concerned utilities often operate their system at a frequency lower than the rated value of 50 or 60 Hz. Such a recourse to reduction in frequency has been taken in order to decrease the power demands and dnergy consumption of the consumers. The low frequency condition also occurs in a system due to outage of generating units or tie lines. The low frequency operation in power system results in serious damage tothe equipment at the generating stations particularly thermal & nuclear plants, loss of industrial production and_x000D_ damage to consumers' equipments. Further, it causes certain operational problems in interconnected operation of power systems...
