There are few areas where the impact of the recant growth of statistics has been felt more strongly tht..n in engineering and constructs on—management. In deed, it would be difficult to overestimate the contributions statistics has made to problems of production, to the effective use of materials and man—power, to basic research, and to the development of new products. As in the other sciences, statistics has become a vital tool to the construction engineer. Large investment in the construction of river volley projedts warrants close monitoring, precise planning and correct decision making for timely completion of all these super projects. All the three components can be successfully dealt with the help of a very versatile tool of the present day the application of statistical study, which has not so far been applied to the construction planning and monitoring. An attempt has been made in this dissertation to collect data from a construction project and analyse it statistically.en_US
