dc.description.abstractWater is a chemical freak, an absolute necessity, a frightening phenomenon, a benevolent friend. It is physically the universal solvent, at the , same time it p erc-ades almost all of man's activities - agriculture, industry, forestry, fishing, domestic tranquillity, navigation, hydel power generation, politics and even foreign affairs. Traped, polluted and wasted since mankind took over the world, water is being acknowledged with terrible slowness to require very intelligent handling in the future if our race is to survive. Whoever mistreats, mishandles, mismanages water does at his own peril. This has been proved fact as in the New York City, as in the deserts of the American South.-best, as true in the cholera ridden slums of Calcutta and as in the flood prone areas of Assam Valley and Bihar. Because for widely increasing population of the world water must be cherished, saved and treated with reverence, some people give only to money, gold and other precious.....en_US
