The subject matter of this thesis is an experimental study of transverse diffusion coefficient in open channel. having spurs on one side. The experiment were carried out at the Hydraulics Laboratory, University of Roorkee, in a tilting flume 0.40 m wide, and 15 m long. The spurs in the flume and consisted of wooden blocks of size 8 x 15 x 4 cm fixed on one of the side wall, with 8 cm side projecting as spur length into the flow. The ratio of centre to centre spacing of spur to the spur length, length, was varied from 1.0 to 32.0. Neutrally buoyant common salt solution was used as tracer to get concentration versus time records which were then processed using moment method to obtain the transverse diffusion coefficient......en_US
