The study presents a crop planning model to determine an optimal cropping pattern for the Delta Irrigation project in Orissa. The optimization Model used herein is a lumped, deter-mini stir one in character. The whole area is considered as one unit. A Standard L.P. Model has been formulated for this problem. The case of study refers to ' $hargavi-Daya Doab' under Puri Irrigation Divi sion in Orissa. Crops and Crop calendar chosen for analysis are consistent with the agroclimatic condi-tions of the area. Water requirements of various crops have been calculated basing on climatological datas. Input and outputs of crops have been considered as per the optimum requirements. The returns from various crops have been considered corresponding to expected production level based on the recommendations of the State Agricultural Department./....en_US
