The greater dependence on the continuous supply of Electrical nervy has necessitated hi.7her degree of reliability of the power system. Stability studies are, therefore, necessary to determine the ability of the major components of the system to remain in synchronism under all conditions of faults and sustained load changes. In an electrical power system, not only are the number of components very large but it also extends over huge area. It is, therefore, too large an entity for direct experi-mentation except in some isolated. cases. Hence, it is only natural that the response of the system is predetermined by mathematical simulation and the same is checked for satisfactory behaviour of the actual system by field testing. In the present work, the stability study of the Bhakra left bank P.H. - Nangal fertilizer system has been carried, out with particular reference to the effect of prime mover Governor parameters on the stability of the entire system. The system has been represented mathematically and the technique of D--partition has been applied to determine the parameters of the Governor for which the system would be stable under steady state conditions. iv The behaviour of system for the predetermined para-meters of the Governor has also been checker under the transient conditions. The computation work has been carried out on dirital computer IBI -370 at ON GC, Dehradun . It has been possible through the studies carried out, to recommend the optimum settirig-s of the adjustable parameters of the Governor, for which the system behaviour will be satisfactory under both steady state and transient conditions.en_US
