The study presents an integrated Irrigation Planning Methodology which doternines. cropping pattern and Optimal Conjunctive surface and ground water allocation. The optimization.model used herein'is lumped, deterministic one in character. The whole area is considered as a unit and no stochasticity involved are explicitly considered. The model is based on water balance. The L.P. Model for the system is composed of canal, tubewells, ,drainage and land area, to determine schedule of releases and capacities. The cropping pattern is selected by the model. The case study refers to Gomti Kalyani Doab under Sharda Sahayak Pariyojana in Uttar 'Pradesh. In the analysis, the basic constraints are that ground water withdrawls is limited to the extent of recharge r from irrigation supplies, the water requirements of crops are to be fully met at potential evapotranspiration level and Physical constraints such as upper and lower bounds on land availability and water availability are also considered. The crop production Function have been assumed at feasible maximum - levels. vi The model assumes that the level of inputs required for desired level of outputs will be made available and corresponding cost figures have been accounted for in calculating benefits per hectare for individual crop. The data used in the study are taken from Published reports. Sensitivity analysis of the various cost co—efficients and the Right Hand side of the constraints has also been carried out.. The results of the study are discussed in details and the direction for future work is suggested.en_US
