Issue Date: 1972
Abstract: In this project, the installation of close type atomizer for continuous production of powder Is made. Aluminium-tin and Aluminium-copper prealloyod powders of different compositions have been prepared and the characteristics (size distribution and sinterability via. hardness and densification) of powder are ob-tamed. Addition of tin or copper helps in the pro. duction of finer powders than is possible with alumi-nium alone. Under sintering testa, effect of grinding for removal of alumina film and thereby for improving sin-terabil ity is tested. Sinterability of prea ,toyed powder and unalloyed powder mixture is compared. Results show that prealloyed powders have hotter stnterability, Apart from this compact of aluminum-tin-copper powder mixture are sintored, Results show addition of copper to Aluminiumtin powder mixture improves the sinter- ability.
