Issue Date: 1988
Abstract: In the present investigation the behaviour of flake type and spheroidal type cast iron Kc`. and Kc1 respectively has been studied under cyclic oxidation conditions at the temperatures of 500°C, 640°C; 720°C and 8000C. Both the alloys are prone to spalling at temperatures above temperat-ure 640°C. The weight increase per unit area is irregular In case of flake type cast iron in early cycles the weight changer are irregular at all the temperatures. The typical thing observed is the heavy weight loss in higher number of cyles both at 720°C and 800°C. There is a similarity in pattern of weight variation among the. alloys. Multilayer scale has been identified and presence of nodules in flake type cast iron and rough surface in spheroidal type bast iron have been observed.
