Abstract: Modern buildings require a considerable amount of energy in air-conditioning, vertical transportation, and lighting which needs evaluation so that the operating energy consumption is minimum. Energy Conservation in the building sector plays an important role not only in minimising the wastage of electrical energy but also in promoting energy efficient designs utilizing daylight, natural ventilation, thermal insulation and appropriate building materials. Because of the inefficient indoor environmental conditions, most of the energy in buildings are being used for physical comfort such as air-conditioning, artificial lighting, heating, cooling etc.. By studying the climatic aspect_ for human comfort and the effect of building orientation etc. an energy conserving program can be established in building system
