Thermal energy storage plays an important role for the systems like power generation, process industries etc. where the demand of energy is continuous. The significance of such thermal en.e.YQystorge systems is further .enhanced if the input energy is intermittent like solar energy. The present work covers the energy storage systems working at a high temperatures of about 2500C.The entire work has been ditvided into six different chapters: CHAPTER 1 is an introductory chapter describing the status of storage systems with respect to various_ utilization centers. This chapter also include review of work of different investigators. CHAPTER 2 includes the classification of stoarge systems and general information about different storge systems. CHAPTER 3 describes the importance, physical and chemical characteristics and design consideration of a PCM storage system. CHAPTER 4 gives the details of experimental work done for investigations of charging and discharging characteristics of PCM. CHAPTER 5 Presents the results and discussions on the experimental work. CHAPTER 6 gives conclusions and scope for future in the field of storage systems. APPENDICES-Various appendices have been finally given to cope the present work. The information given can be used for design of a thermal energy storage system.en_US
