Abstract: The dynamic behaviour of fluid-elastic interaction phenomenon is carried out experimentally. The liquid is kept in the rigid rectangular container with flexible supports and the entire container-support structure is excited in horizontal plane through scotch-yoke mechanism. Most of the results presented are experimental in nature and only a few of the results are compared with theory. Mainly slosh forces are studied by varying base length between springs and liquid depth. Some of the results with flexible walls of the container are also included. Single and multicompartment containers are investigated. The pitching response of the structure has been carried out for few cases. It has been observed that the sloshing of liquid may be used as an effective means of controlling the overall.'fluid elastic interaction phenomena. It has been conclusively brought in that the flexibility of the container-support system can be changed in number of ways to suppress the overall response.
