Issue Date: 1971
Abstract: The bucket type dissipators used in most of the dams in India are usually placed below the tai water level; even when ski-jump performance is desired. These buckets function as roller bucket at low intensity of discharge and as a -jump or flip buckets at higher intensities. In such cases the significance of the limiting tailvater depth for roller action is of paramount paraimt importance so as to avoid the costly ski-jump bucket and its appurtenant wow. The siagpli- city of the solid bucket design is an important feature from the standpoint of construction and maiftenance particularly for Isolated pro3actse attempt has been made In this dissertation to give hydraulic design criteria for bucket dissipators with 300 exit angle. On the basis of model tests a number of non-dimensional curves have been given which can be readily used to design a new project. A critical analysis of the observed data has been made hicb outlines the performance and limitations of the study made.
