This dissertation report deals with the design of feeding system by the use of computer, it's optimisation, graphics and it's verification through experimentation, which involves Al - 8% Si poured in green sand moulds. In the first part a computer program was developed in Fortran 77 to predict the riser shape, it's dimensions, number of risers and yield for five different shapes of castings then the riser design was optimised using non-linear programming. The use of computer graphics was done to show the schematic diagram of the mould cavity and the feeder along with a representation of filling technique and solidification. The second part involves the verification of above results through experiments. The riser design was found to be sound when castings were tested for shrinkage. Ien_US
