Authors: Singh, K. K.
Keywords: WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT;GROUNDING SYSTEM;HYDRO POWER STATIONS;DAMS
Issue Date: 1971
Abstract: The scope of the dissertation is to cover the on, subject of grounding employedlelectrical installations namely Hydro Power Stations, Sub-stations, Dams and other similar civil structures. Various problems faced by the engineers to achieve their objectives aimed at making the system economic, techni-cally acceptable and safe for the equipment and personnel, have been discussed and remedial measures suggested. Selection of grounding material, tolerable resistance confining the hazards due to voltage gradients of various types have been discussed in detail and recommended values arrived ate So far the design of grounding system was carried out and is being carried out through long hand calculations using the analytical expressions by design engineers. This is time consuming and laborious task. Digital computers are increasingly employed for this purpose in foreign countries. A computer programme for data processing pertaining to this subject has been developed and successfully employed. The discussions in this dissertation will be useful to design engineers working in this field as these have been oriented towards practical problems being faced in the field.
