This dissertation deals with various types of chemical energy storage media, which can be. used for storing energy for high temperature applications. It describes properties of number of chemical compounds, kinetics of various chemical reactions and. temperature range to which these can be used. Various phase change materials (PCM) have also been discussed. A storage system based on a PCM eutectic mixture for a 500 kWe electricpower plant has been designed and analysed. Optimum insulation thickness analysis has been done for the storage system designed. A software has also been developed for the heat transfer analysis of the storage sen_US
