Issue Date: 1990
Abstract: Stability and handling characteristics are greatly influenced by the performance of the tyre. So the prediction of the behaviour of the tyre in contact with the road under various conditions is of importance to the vehicle dynamist. A mathematical model of the tyre to predict steady state tyre cornering behaviour is developed for evaluating the longitudinal force, lateral force and aligning torque. The effect of different variables viz. longitudinal slip, slip angle, inclination angle, normal load, etc., has been studied. For the purpose, different tyre parameters as required by the mathematical model, were experimentally measured in the laboratory. The model is capable of simulating steady state forces and moment which reasonably compare with the experimental results
