dc.description.abstract | Manpower planning and line balancing are very important for optimising the production of any industry. In present work, development of a software for manpower planning and line balancing for a unit of a heavy industry has been done. For this purpose, a wide literature survey was done. A new approach has been developed for designing the software for manpower planning. This is a modification over the existing method. This involves forecasting future demands using different methods. The best suited forecasting method, depending upon past trend for each method, is selected for production of future demands. This software gives more accurate future predictions. It also involves provision of different rates of rework and efficiency for different processes. The rate of percentage of absenteeism can also be changed. This software has been developed using dBASE III PLUS package and language. This software is completly interactive and it is easier (for any user) to deal with it. For the repetitive process of manpower planning and line balancing. It saves time, money and manpower involved in the analysis of manpower planning and line balancing. | en_US |
