Abstract: The analysis of dynamic behaviour of liquids, also called sloshing, in moving containers is carried out experimentally. The container geometry is rectangular. Single compartment with rigid walls and three corripart- ment containers with rigid and flexible walls are consi-dered. The results are compared with the linearized theory of sloshing behaviour of an ideal liquid, slosh forces, natural frequency of oscillation, and free surface displace-ment with various liquid depths to length ratios are deter-mined. Because of damping in real liquid the results differ. It is found that for small oscillations the predicted and observed res ;onses are close to each other. The results differ widely at resonance as the real fluid behavior tends to become nonlinear and unstable. The multicomartment container offers better control over the slosh behaviour of licuid and has more damping with that of single comp art- raent coat; ine.r_. It has been observed that a similar flexible wall container provides better control over the slosh behavior and offers more of damping. It is suggested that the container with, flexible walls should be used if overall slosh forces and free surface displacementsare to be reduced.
