Authors: Johari, Anoop Kumar

Issue Date: 1992
Abstract: Extrusion cutting is a newly introduced process, in which back surface of the chip is constrained. by a shoe in such a way that the material is extruded .through the gap between shoe and cutting tool. In contrast to the conventional cutting, the chips obtained by extrusion cutting are of very good quality. The- original set-up was designed to be worked on hydraulically operated lathe only'. In the present work, a set-up has been designed and fabricated to facilitate the extrusion cutting process while working on a ordinary lathe, incorporating automatic feed drive unit.. The. developed set-up' for extrusion cutting' can be. of potential application in manufacturing small items(i.e. strips) being extensi'vely.used in electrical appliances.'
