dc.description.abstract1.1 LOCATION AND ACCESSIBILITY The area investigated lies between the lattitude, 30°15' and 20° 20', and longitudes 79° and 7905' and forms a part of survey of India toposheet No. 53 NSW. The investigations were carr led out in an area of 72 sq. Km . The area is accessible both from Rishikesh and Kotdwar. The National Highway No.45 linking Rishikesh Railway Station tothe Badrinath Shrine. The highway from Kotdwar joins NH45 at Shrinagar- The old capital of Garhwal. Rudraprayag is 163 Km. from Rishikesh. The area investigated lies between Kilometer stone 164.7 and 175.6 on the Rishikesh Badrinath Road and stretches both north and south of the road which follows the Alkhnanda River. Ratura village with a population of nearly 350 is the largest inhabited area.....en_US
