Abstract: 1.1 LOCATION The investigated area lies around Lansdowne torn, district Pauri Garhwal, Uttar Pradesh. It is about 32 square kilometers and lies between latitudes N 29°48'40" and N 29052' l0" and longitudes E ?78°39'36" to E 7843'36" in Survey of India t op osheet Teo, 5? K /9. 1,*2 ACG1$SP ILI J The nearest rail head is I(otdwara, a terminus station of Kotdwara-Najibabad branch line of I1orthern pail*iay. Lansdowne is approachable by all weather 42 KM long motorable road from Kotdwara and is also connected by metalled road with Paurt. # motorable road is also being constructed in the South- pastern part of the area from Dertakhal to Chundai which will be extended upbo Rekhnikhal. 1.' CLI MAT R Tho area enjoys a pleasant climate during a greater part of the year. The maximum temperature (25° C to 2')° C) is attained during the months of May and June. Since a greater part of the area lies above an altitude of 510±0 ft above the mean sea level, the winter is very severe and the temperature falls below freezing point during the months of January and February. Sometimes snowfall also takes place during mid-January.........
