Abstract: LOCATION The present work embodies the results of geological investigations carried out in a nearly 30.5 square kilometer area, lying south of Satpuli and falling between longitudes E 78°40' and E 78°43'25" and latitudes N 29052'50" and 29°5550". The area forms a part of District Pauri Garhwal, Uttar Pradesh and is included in the Survey of India one inch Toposheet No.53 K/9 Second Edition published in 1943. ACCESSI BI LI 1Y: The nearest railway station to the area is Kotdwara which is the terminus of Najibabad-Kotdwara branch line. Satpuli is 56 kilometers from Kotdwara and is easily accessible by the all weather Kotdwara-Pauri road. There is no "gate system" now. Private buses and U.P. Roadways buses ply to these places at frequent intervals during the day. To the south of Satpuli near Gum Khal, a road from Lansdowne joins the Kotdwara-Pauri Road. A new road is under construction from Gum Khal to Devari Khal which will be completed in due course of time, At Satpuli, the motor road bifurcates in two directions, one goes in the north-east direction directly to Pauri and the other goes to Pauri in the north direction via Banghat and Marora....
