dc.description.abstractAn experimental investigation has been carried out to determine the heat transfer during forced convec-tion evaporation of oil free R-12. A pump recirculation system has been designed and fabricated to obtain oil free R-12 and thus study its evaporation in a horizontal tube evaporator. The tests were conducted at mass velocities 3.25 x 10 , #.88 x 10 , 6.51 x 10 kg/hr-m2 and heat fluxed 3100, 7260 and 13700 Kcal./hr-m2. The experimental results are compared with four existing correlations namely that of Chen, Lavin and Young, C.P. Sharma and Schrock and .Grossman (modified) . The results agree most closely with the modified schrock and Grossman correlation.en_US
