Issue Date: 1964
Abstract: Over the past twenty years or so, our knowledge of the phenomena of combustion of liquid fuels in I.C. engines has vastly improved,. This has been made possible by a systematic research effort in several countries with the aid of new experimental techniques. In the present thesis the results of this research work have been revs eared, discussed, and evaluated. The first chapter has been devoted to a discussion of the more important experimental techniques to obtain basic engine data* The phenomena of combustion in the S.I. engine and the C.I. engines is discussed separately in chapters II & III , respectively. In chapter IV the current trends of development of I.C. engines are indicated. It is hoped that the following pages would give a precise indication of the present state of knowledge in this area.
