ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF GEZIRA MANAGIL PROJECT SUDAN

Abstract

The importance for Integrated Environmental Evaluation of Water Resources Projects has been realized world over in view of the their long term consequences and large investment requirements. Out of several techniques employed, Multi Criteria De-cision Making (MCDM) Techniques have shown promise. The same has been applied in the presented case study on Gezira - Managil project, Sudan. The evaluation has helped to ascertain the varying environmental, of the project from 1960's to 1990's and prioritisation of management options proposed to improve the present conditions.
