Authors: Adhami, Abrar. N.
Keywords: HYDROLOGY;COMPUTER PROCESSING;SYSTEM LOGICAL STRUCTURE;DATA PERSONAL COMPUTER
Issue Date: 1991
Abstract: Management of large volumes of hydrological and water quality data observed under different conditions need a scientific basis of mass storage alongwith facilities for selected retrieval. A computerised system for Data Storage and Retrieval has therefore been developed on IBM compatible Personal Computer at Department of Hydrology, University of Roorkee, Roorkee, using dBASE III-Plus for its implementation= The major tasks performed by this package area 1) The organization and storage of data thereby creating a master files 2) Retrieval of data from the master data file in a few desired formats. 3) Maintenance and updation of the. master data file= 4) Some statistical analysis. These functions are performed with the help of user friendly commands developed specially for this purpose. Provision has been kept for expanding the overall logical structure of the system without existing programs having to be rewritten.
