Optimization techniques based on mathematical programming algorithms are powerful tools, capable of providing solutions to the problems which engineers and planners face while planning and remodelling of complex water resources systems. The scope of, optimal solutions cover well beyond the conventional failures and inturn the national perspective planning get disturbed, when the farmers are not guided by the operational techniques leading to a financially viable project, dissatisfaction and abondment is the ultimate result. The study deals with the use of linear programming model and simulation model on Anjunem reservoir project of Goa. The linear programming model is applied to idetify optimal crop planning for the project area. Further screening is carried out by simulation for 20 years monthly flow data. Best solutions is identified on the basis of benefit, socio-economic considerations and satisfying the norms i.e. 90 percent success on annual energy generation and 75 percent success on annual irrigation.. iiien_US
