A distributed parameter model is developed for an oblong catchment, (area 4500 sq.km), subjected to large temporal and areal variations in the rainfall, after analysing seven different models with the help of data of four years. The catchment is that of major irrigation dam, under construction across the river Penganga, at village Isapur, Dist.- Ya.tatrr 1. in the - a state of Maharastra. The linear catchment response is considered, so that the model so developed, can be used, for flood forecasting with simple computational devices.en_US
