Abstract: Permeability is an in ortant hydrogeologicai. parameter and its deter.Lnat .on is of pr inc ,imiportanca in any hyc1ro: geological investtgs.tion. Ua.P.G,W investigation divis on,; Roorkee had collected number of samples at different point in western UP, for determination of permeability perwesbility in the laboratory# The pezmeabilit determination was aimed for ground water balance studies# Present study is based on the basic data collected from the U,P.G.W..S,D.. Roorkee An attempt has been made to study the relation of permeability with the varic s grainsize parameter and the applicability of existing relation of pr:rmeabiUUty with the grain size and its indirect use in the permeabilityy determination* In the preoent study it was found that the emperic al methods for computation of permeèbility on the basis of grain size parameters have limited applicability. Z t is concluded in the study that permeability ty is dependent on a group of statistical parameter in which standard deviation and graphic diameter are tte most important, ?nother significant conclusion Is that per-meability is depending on Kurtonie and Increases with increasing Kurtosis but with further increase of Kurtosis, permeability ty decreases. For better understanding of the relation of various statistical parameters of grain size distribution R.u.Mode factor analysis was attempted*: 3
