dc.description.abstract | Tremendous studies have been made in the field of metal cutting. Not only the volume of machining has incre-ased considerably, but more significantly the rate of metal removal in machining process. Inspite of the fact that a number of modern developments have come up, this process is still considered to be the most inefficient of all the common manufacturing processes and many a times the process has been condemned as a " wasteful method". Casting and plastic-working processes are subs-tantially more productive than the machining process, but for the most machine parts neither of them can approach machining specially in control of dimensional tolerances and surface finish. So therefore, though inefficient, but still on the basis of added advantages the machining process can be described as a "necessary evil" in the production shop r z d which requires continuous efforts for improvements.... | en_US |
