Abstract: | The heat transfer from one location to the other has become a severe task now a days. The heat pipe is found to be a suitable means for this purpose which transfers larger heat fluxes at low temperature gradients. An experimental investigation of a heat pipe having water — cotton -• wick matrix in a copper pipe container has been carried out for steady state operation at different inclinations of the heat pipe axis. Electrical heating and water, cooling were employed as source and sink of heat respectively. The effect of the amount of wetting fluid on the performance of heat pipe has been investigated. It was found that the heat pipe transfers highest rate of heat at a particular charge of water, which was found not to be affected by the inclination ' of pipe or tevap tcond' S.I. units have been used all through the dissertation work. |
