dc.description.abstractRoplacemont is required for ageing of tho equipments which have increased cost of operation and maintenance. Also the equipment is to be replaced in case of its failure suddenly. The theory of Replacement is concerned with predection of replacement costs and determination of most economical replacement policy. In this thesis a case study on Equipment replacement in a mining industry and network planning for major overhauling of HEC shovel along with resource leveling of man pouver have been made. An Excavator made by Heavy Engineering Corporation -- Ranchi, bucket capacity 4.6 m3 is selected for. study. This excavator is in use by M/S Hindustan Copper Ltd. P.O. Ma lanj khand-M.P. Since last 7 years. Various Replacement policies have been discussed in detail. For this study Dynamic Programming model has been used owing to its many advantages.en_US
