Issue Date: 1974
Abstract: When cost of repair in time and money of an oquipaont is a fraction of the initial coot of equipment, one considers system maintenance. If ouch type of systems can be rapidly returned for service, the consequences of failures arc minimized. With the use of repair facilities reliability of series ayetdm does not improve, becauso as coon as the component fails it is sent for repairs and system remains down until it is repeircO and brought back. Hot ov3r, the use of multiple repair facilities in advanta-geous in cane of parallel and standby system. With the increase in the number of repair facilities cost of mainte-nance increases. For optinum maintenance policy, one has to solve a problem of maximising system reliability as a function of number of repair facilities subject to the cost and other related constraints. Series Parallel System to considered. the use of D7ncmio Programming in made to find optimal allocation of 11TBF, T? IR and number of redundant component. Ezproosiono arc darivcd for reliability of a Standby System and (m, n) system in terms of component failure rate, repair rate, number of repair facilities and spare component©, A method of finding Optimum Flaintonanoe Policy is diccucood for Standby Sycteno. It is also applicable for the Cu, n) system.
