Title: INVESTIGATION OF PERFORMANCE OF PEBBLE BED SOLAR ENERGY STORAGE
Authors: Udasi, Yash Ved
Keywords: MECHANICAL & INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING;PEBBLE BED;SOLAR ENERGY STORAGE;THERMAL HEAT STORAGE
Issue Date: 1980
Abstract: The thermal heat storage system is one of the most important component in solar energy systema ,. This work deals heat transfer problems in a sensible heat storage unit of packed pebble bed type and results of calculation have been compered with those of experiments performed with a small scale pebble bed beat storage system. In this storage system high temperature air is avail-* able from solar collectors and the air transfer heat to pebbles while passing through zi ng paths in the packed bed* The amort of thermal energy stored is dependent not only, on flow rate, thermal properties and the inlet temperature of the air but on the physical properties, mass and shape of the pebbles
