Issue Date: 1979
Abstract: The primary thrust of this report is to explore the possibility of present and prospective thermal energy storage system utilizing solar insolation as a source of energy. Although there may be other types of systems also which may impart thermal energy but here the descri-ption and design has been confined to the solar energy operated systems only. The entire work has been divided in ten different chapters. CHAPTER - 1, is an introductory chapter describing the status of storage system with respect to various utilization centres. How and why, the importance of the storage system is being experienced today, is the major objective of this chapter. How the present community can be made acquinted with such non-conventional system, is explained here. Energy input and output or supply and demand have been explained by two plots. CHAPTER - 2, this chapter provides the information about the basic components of a storage system. How such systems can be classified, is the main motto of this chapter. Various systems using sensible heat or latent heat (Energy of fusion) have been represented in the tabular form, Conceptual or Engineering or Operational status of the various systems has been marked in two tests given.................
