Abstract: | An experimental investigation has been carried out to study the performance of a domestic refrigerator as a function of the frequency and duration of itsdoor opening The Refrigerator was placed in a test room where the ambient conditions were maintained. The effect of the "frequency of Opening of the door, time for which it is kept open, dry bulb temperature and relative humidity of ambieiit, aeneible and 'latent heat loads was etud,j.ed. The 'following range of para. meters was covered, during investigation C i) Ambient Conditions r Air DBT ' 35°C Air WBT 32°C a (ii) Sensible heat load (iii) Latent heat load and 43.3°C and 300C .. 6Q W and 75 W .. 60 Wand 75 W n The Variation in the performance of the refrigerator was studied when the Door was opened for x min after every half an hour, and also when it was Opened for 4 min after every two hours. The duration of each test was 48 hours and the door was kept closed between 21.00 P.M. to 7.00 A.M. In all six teat run* four at the eme 8.$.L. and L. LL. and two test run at different 8.H.L. and D.Q.L. have been performed. *:asured,, energy donaumption at different ambient Conditions andfrequency and duration of opening has been re-► ported, Mean oebin.e.t, and freezer temperatures and their, Standard deviations have been calculated. |
