|Abstract:||The recent patterns of town planning in India have come up with the challenge of development of structures in slopes, especially in undulated terrains. With ever increasing population in the cities and sky hype price of lands in these areas, leave us with little choice but to utilize the sloppy terrains. Earlier problems such as land sliding and slope stability due to an earthquake, restrain the engineers from putting the structures on slopes. However with the exponential rate of urbanization as well as due to advance in technology along with increasing knowledge of seismic behavior of slopes has changed the scenario. In order to better characterize the way site effects may influence the triggering of landslides along slope, 2D Finite Element elastic models were developed by assuming type of soil, damping ratio, Poisson's ratio, and shear wave velocity. Time history analysis is carried out which provides the actual behavior of soil amplification and seismic slope stability in a hilly slope. Various geometrical, geological and seismic conditions were analyzed and the dynamic behavior of the slope under these conditions was studied in terms of creation and location of a sliding surface. The results suggest that the size of modeled slope failures is dependent on site effects.|
