Title: STUDY OF BARRELING IN FORGING OF ALUMINIUM
Authors: Chincholiker, Shanker Rao
Keywords: MECHANICAL & INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING;BARRELING;FORGING;FORGING ALUMINIUM
Issue Date: 1975
Abstract: The present work has been carried out to study the Influence of 1/d. ratio, lubricants and temperature on barreling,, during the free forging of commercial aluminium at slow speed. A now parameter Do - D (-- is defined as a measure of barreling which is ht quite realistic and free from ambiguity than one defined by Kulkarni at al ( 10) • ,also an attempt has been made to correlate the barreling parameter with the forging parameters. some of the interesting results like - ins tabili ty at even low strains . and l/d ratios ( with the application of lubricants ) f entrapment of oil film, the phape of the barred, were revealed in the present 0 work. It was also found that the temperature of 400 c ( Forging temperature ) has no significant effect on barre-ling.
