Title: FLUID INERTIA IN HYDRODYNAMIC LOAD SUPPORTING FILMS
Authors: Malik, Moinuddin
Keywords: MECHANICAL & INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING;FLUID INERTIA;HYDRODYNAMIC;LOAD SUPPORTING FILMS
Issue Date: 1972
Abstract: Reynolds equation representing pressure distrim button in hydrodynamic load supporting films does not take into account the fluid particle inertia. In this thesis two feasible solutions of the flow field •qua.. tions of hydrodynamic films, taking fluid particle inertia also into account. have been presented end expressions for the journal bearing parameters have been derived. The analysis is general and can be applied to Moth full and partial journal bearings. Sample results from one of the solutions are also given and discussed.
