Abstract: Laminar burning velocity is an intrinsic property of a combustible mixture. Of the various methods of measuring burning velocity, the constant volume method is found to be a potentially versatile and accurate method, particularly in relation to the dependence of burning velocity on mixture composition, pressure and temperature. Acetylene - air mixtures were spark ignited centrally at varying initial pressures and mixture compositions in a spherical constant volume combustion vessel.. The measurements of burning velocity were made by analysis of pressureā€¢.time records alone. Dependence of burning velocity on mixture composition., initial pressure and unburned gas temperature has been investigated and the results obtained are compared with the available literature data.
