MERIT RATING OF ARC WELDER, S

Abstract

The present investigation has been undertaken with a view to establish a judicious and more general method to test and rate the manual arc welders• An attempt has been made to consider almost all the possi-ble factors on the basis of which the skill of the welders could be evaluated and compared, and to propose a simple but judicious procedure for testing and rating metallic arc welders• This will help us in their selection, promotion and rate fixing. The quality of the weld Judged on the basis of ISI Code, work turnover rate, persistartce in maintaining a correct ere length, and general details about the welders have been taken as the criteria for this purpose. it is hoped that this investigation will prove useful to the industries and small concerns in which important con onents and structures are manufactured by welding specially to the boiler and ship building industries.
