An experimental investigation of the Steady State temperature distribution and average heat transfer coefficient for X5 heat generating circular cylinders, cooled by air thxough a ring of axial holes, is presented. The effects of positions of holes on temperature distribution for a constant value of Blot modulus NBInumber of holes m, and sizes of holes a were studied• The optiiimoptimum locations of holes to minimize the peak temperature were found out at about b/re = 1/3 for m # 2 and at b/ re = 0.62 for m = 4. For higher values of Biot modulus the peak temperature is minimized. In the case of larger size of holes, the peak temperature Is also minimized for the same value of Bit modulus (N8), same number of toles m) and same positions of holes (b). The general equation _ correlating Nusselt number (Nu) and Reynolds number "(Re) was found to be 0.804 Nu 0.0248 (Re)en_US
