The study summarises the result of the studies of retrieval of chromium ions in solutions and its potential application in waste water treatment. The parameters are optimized for ferritisation process to retrieve chromium from synthetic waste water. The recommended procedure consist of shaking of solution at pH 9 containing chromium(at 200 rpm) at 50°C for 60 minutes untill black magnetic chromium ferrite are formed. The Cr(VI) reduction process utilising ferrous sulphate as reducing agent was achieved when the solution was treated at pH 9 and 50°C for 60 min in the presence of Fe2+/Cr3+ weight ratio of 16. The chromium ferrites formed have been characterised by Scanning electron microscope, Vibrating sample magnetometer, E DAX. The experiments were conducted at laboratory scale using synthetic heavy metal solutions. At 50°C, weight ratio of Fee+/Cr3+ 16, for a contact time period of 40 minutes, the magnetic sludge produced was subjected to AAS analysis. It was discovered that the sludge particles formed were of nano particle size and having nano tube structures. further studies to assess the magnetic properties of sludge having nano tube particles were carried out so that the sludge can be utilized in various application, based on its magnetic and nano properties of the sludge.en_US
