In this dissertation, two dualband antennas for 2.4/5.2GHz WLAN operations and a 2x2 patch antenna array for 5.8GHz WLAN operation have been presented. The dualband operation in the antennas have been achieved by using two strips of unequal lengths to produce two different current paths which results in the excitation of dual resonant modes. Among dualband antennas first antenna is CPW-fed and resembles to 'S' shape while other is ACS-fed and resembles to 'F' shape. The implementation of PSO algorithm for antenna design problem has also been presented by using this algorithm for the optimization of F-shaped dualband antenna. For the array design patch antenna with slits has been used as single element where the purpose of inserting slits is to enhance the bandwidth of the array.en_US
