The dissertation deals with localization and recognition of various Indian currency notes available in the market. It involves implication of various Image Processing techniques which can be of great help for the blind as it is very difficult for them to properly handle various currencies. There has been a lot of work that has been done in the field of Image processing techniques for the blind but not much concerning the currency notes. Till now, the techniques have not been able to properly work and aid the blind to recognize the currency. Since the field has not-been touched by many researchers and is open to explore, it is tried to get some advancement in this field. Designing and implementation of some new techniques is attempted that can aid in localizing and recognizing the Indian currency notes. The problem includes Image feature extraction and feature based currency note localization and recognition using Image processing with the help of Matlab and its tools. The process involves acquiring images of currency notes from the camera, localizing the currency note in the image and then applying hybrid techniques so that its specific features can be extracted and the currency note can be recognized. So our thesis mainly deals with providing blind people around the globe, an easy to use and handy tool to solve their one of the biggest problem of correctly recognizing the currency note.en_US
